Meet Flora
Certified Integrative Counsellor
In the midst of intense grief or sudden loss it can be difficult to see a path forward.
But for almost everyone facing any kind of loss, without making space and time to explore the complex emotions you are facing, everyday life can feel overwhelming.
You may feel you need to hold everything together for those around you, even though your body and mind are coping with strong tides of complex emotions. The classic ‘I’m fine’ response, when things are clearly not, and you are struggling to cope, means it is time to seek help.
As a specialist grief and loss counsellor, my role is to provide a safe space from the rush of normal life, free from judgment or agenda, where you can start to make sense of the adjustments you are facing.
We'll work together to help you process your experiences, creating space for a future that honours what has passed, while empowering you with the tools, clarity and strength to step towards joy and a fulfilling life.
Supporting you through...
Bereavement
There is no right or wrong way to mourn. Everyone's bereavement is unique. Counselling is an opportunity for your grief to find its voice. It can help you understand the different stages of mourning that may be affecting your body and mind, and to explore coping strategies that will enable you to move forward.
Lifestyle Loss
Loss comes in many forms. Major life adjustments caused by issues such as financial trouble, poor health, redundancy, moving home or the death of a pet can bring significant emotional challenges. Counselling provides space for you to come to terms with the difficulties you have been facing, and build on that clarity to move forward with hope.
Separation & Divorce
'Moving on' after a significant relationship has come to an end can be immensely challenging.
As well as deep sadness and loss, there may be anger, disappointment and emotions that affect your sense of self worth. Counselling can help you make peace with complex feelings and unlock the clarity to explore what you now want to move forward.
So grateful for Flora's support through this difficult time. I couldn't recommend her services more.
Anna B.
Meeting you in your safest space.
Choose to meet at your home, online or on a walk.
I have experience and expertise in supporting...
Women
In today's world we all have so much to juggle and it can be especially difficult for women to prioritise self-care. Whether you're coping with bereavement, separation, empty nest syndrome or feeling a loss of self through the pressures of family life, by providing a safe space for your feelings to be heard, counselling can help lighten some of the burden you're carrying. We'll work together to help you build self-esteem, gain clarity and establish support systems that strengthen you to be the woman you want to be.
Men
Research shows that men are less likely to reach out for support during difficult times and more likely to resort to unhealthy coping mechanisms that can have a significantly detrimental effect on their mental health.
I help clients explore emotional wellbeing in safety and privacy. Together we'll establish frameworks to help you move forward stronger, and equip you with the tools to maintain a positive and balanced life.
Young Adults & Children
Children and teenagers process loss differently, depending on their age and stage of emotional awareness. Young children often benefit from short, dynamic therapy sessions, with creative or play-based support. Whereas young adults may find walking in nature more comfortable - diffusing the intensity of face-to-face chat.
I offer flexible counselling at home, online or outside on a walk to help young people process their emotions.
Walk and talk
A moment of calm...
My aim is to get clients outside as much as possible. Scientific research shows being outside helps improve people's wellbeing, boosts your health, and is increasingly being prescribed by health professionals.
I provide 'green' counselling in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside for clients of all ages, tailored to suit your mobility needs.

What are the benefits of walk and talk therapy?Walk and talk sessions help dissolve tension, relax the body and boost blood to the brain, making outdoor therapy a wonderful aid to the healing process. Being outside also help us to breathe more and feel present in the moment, working on the concepts of positive psychotherapy (PPT). PPT focuses on improving wellbeing and function, by building positive emotions, relationships and strengths. The aim is to build resilience, thereby helping clients move forward, protecting them against future stressors. You might have heard walk and talk therapy being called 'nature therapy', 'eco-psychotherapy', 'wilderness therapy', 'positive therapy', ' forest bathing' or a variety of other terms all celebrating the added benefits to body and mind from exchanging counselling in the natural environment. Spending time walking outdoors can support the therapeutic experience in many ways... Nature can generate many positive emotions, such as calmness, joy, and creativity and can facilitate concentration. Outdoor activity is the ultimate de-stressor, as sunlight helps keep your serotonin levels up. Time in green spaces significantly reduces your cortisol, which is a stress hormone. Nature also boosts endorphin levels and dopamine production, which promotes happiness. Studies have shown that being in nature produces faster psychological stress recovery time. The natural environment has influenced humans' ability to speak and the amount of vocabulary we use, therefore science would suggest it is easier to express yourself outside. Nature helps us gain a sense of peace and a boost to our self-esteem, as well as providing new visual and audio stimuli which can aid relaxation. Going outdoors can be grounding and centering, helping to reduce tension, stress and anxiety levels. Fresh air, exercise, raising energy levels, boosting blood circulation and contributing all help improve physical wellbeing and contribute to a better night's sleep. Walking in nature, whilst interacting with our natural environment means we are not bombarded with stimulation, which can lower our cortisol levels and give us pleasant biophilic patterns. Walking side by side with a therapist also allows the client to avoid eye contact, when and if they need to, which can feel less pressured than conducting face-to-face therapy in an enclosed room or online across a screen. Many people say they find it easier to talk in a more creative way while walking, as thoughts flow more openly while the body is moving. Outdoor therapy - whether in green or urban spaces - can also be a helpful motivation for clients to get out of the house and experience new environments, which may be particularly beneficial during times of bereavement, loss or depression. “Nature has this calming and enchanting effect. Walking in the woods, smelling the fresh forest air, or sitting on a bench watching birds. Magical.” mental health.org.uk

About Flora
A passion for helping people through loss came to me after my own bereavements, having experienced the value of the amazing support myself and my children received when I was suddenly widowed. I know first-hand how difficult it can be to navigate such painful events.
As a family, it took us time and perseverance to find the right counselling for two children at different ages and stages of emotional awareness. The challenges we faced gave me a calling to make use of my experience, and wherever possible to help others who may be going through a similar journey.
Key to healing and recovery after experiencing any type of loss is to know we are not alone. Being listened to, free from judgment or pressure, and feeling truly understood helps us normalise and make sense of the unfathomable physical and emotional confusion that loss can let loose in us.
My role as a counsellor is to hold open that safe space for you to grieve, find forgiveness, peace or acceptance for what has passed and re-establish frameworks and tools that can help you move forward.
Know that, however impossible things may seem now, help is on hand. You will get through this. The first step is to reach out and let the healing begin.

I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I am trained in a range of therapy models, so I will tailor my therapeutic approach to each individual’s needs.
I have a FdA in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Plymouth University, completed in 2020. My private practice supports individuals and families in person and online. I am particularly interested in helping clients through their loss and grief processes.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and work under their ethical framework. This means I practice using a moral code of conduct and with total consideration for the wellbeing of my clients and to the standards set out by the BACP. Under their guidelines I have supervision and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
I have a DBS (ID C1818809948) giving you the confidence I am suitable to work with children and young adults. I am a parent myself, so understand the complexities being a parent brings. My CPD certificates include understanding children and young adults’ mental health; I also have a keen interest in the links between physical and mental health, so have studied health and nutrition. I acknowledge the holistic approach suits some, so I like to include mindfulness and meditation as and when appropriate.
I have professional indemnity insurance.
In the wise words of Carl Rogers...
‘You can ask or tell me anything. Literally. I will be a safe place for your weird, scary or awkward conversations.’
‘Breath flows in, filling, filling, in this moment drink eternity.
Breath flows out, emptying, emptying, offering itself to infinity’.
